Aircraft interior detailing

A cabin is six or seven different materials sitting within a few feet of one another, and each one has a different chemical tolerance. Wool has a narrow working range. Leather needs conditioning, not stripping. Veneer will lift. Acrylic crazes. Suede is unforgiving of water. We treat them separately because they are separate.

Detail

What is included

Cockpit surfaces, glareshield, switch panels and side consoles. Cabin seating, divans, sidewalls, headliner and window reveals. Galley, including inserts and coffee equipment. Lavatory, fully sanitized. Carpet vacuumed, spot treated and extracted where the fibre and the soil warrant it. Interior brightwork and plated trim polished. Table surfaces and veneer cleaned and conditioned, never wet.

Why one product does not work

The pH scale is logarithmic, so a cleaner at pH 10 is a thousand times more alkaline than water. Wool sits in a narrow band and degrades outside it. Using a single mid-range product across an entire cabin is not efficiency, it is a decision to accept damage on whichever material tolerates it least. That damage is cumulative and it shows up as a tired interior three or four years earlier than it should.

Odor, and what actually causes it

Cabin odor is almost never in the air. It is in the carpet backing, the seat foam, the lav service area or the galley drain. Masking it with a fragrance buys a week. We find the source, treat it at the source, and tell you what it was.

Common questions

Answers before you ask

How long does an interior detail take?

A full interior on a mid-size cabin is generally an overnight job. A cabin reset between legs is a different service and takes as long as the turn allows. We will tell you honestly what fits in the time you have rather than doing a fast version of the wrong thing.

Can you remove odor from a cabin?

Usually, yes, once we find the source. Odor lives in carpet backing, seat foam, the lav service area or the galley drain rather than in the air. Fragrance masks it for about a week. Treating the source fixes it.

Do you clean leather and suede differently?

Yes. Leather is cleaned and conditioned with products matched to the finish on it. Suede and Alcantara are handled dry or near dry, because water marks them and the marks do not come out.

Will you clean the cockpit?

Yes, and carefully. Cockpit work is done around avionics and switchgear with controlled application, never spraying into a panel.
