What North Texas does to an aircraft
Hail is the one that costs real money. North Texas sits in one of the most active severe weather corridors in the country, and spring storms here produce hail that damages aircraft every year. Detailing does not prevent hail, but a clean, protected finish is what makes hail damage findable and documentable, and a maintained aircraft is a straightforward insurance conversation while a neglected one is an argument.
Summer heat changes the method. Ramp temperatures through July and August shorten dwell times, change how chemistry behaves and flash water off a surface before it can be managed. Work is scheduled early or late for that reason.
The water is hard and the wind carries dust. Mineral spotting bakes on in this heat, and North Texas wind puts fine particulate on every horizontal surface between storms. Between the two, the interval on a Dallas aircraft is shorter than an owner coming from a milder climate expects.
Spring brings organic load. Pollen, seed and insect strike from March through May put a film on leading edges and horizontal surfaces that is acidic and does not wait politely to be removed.
